Manchester United winning the English League Cup
Chelsea and Liverpool both closed the gap on Manchester United after their wins last night.
But Man Utd still remain four points ahead of their rivals and have two games in hand.
The first of these games is at Newcastle tonight where the leaders will start as favourites. Newcastle have only won four out of 13 games at St. James’ Park this season.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and Chelsea counterpart Guus Hiddink have both vowed to keep pushing Manchester United for the Premier League title.
Hiddink said: "It is good for everyone in the championship to keep the pressure on the number one team."
Reaction
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to play down talks of his side winning the quintuple after their Carling Cup final win over Spurs.
They have also won the Club World Cup and are still chasing the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
Ferguson said: " I'm not getting carried away with it, only the media will. We will keep our feet on the ground......We'll take each game as it comes. We've got an important game on Wednesday [ at Newcastle] and fingers crossed we can get a good result there."
In 1999, Manchester United won an unprecedented treble of the Champions League, the Premiership and the FA cup.
