A Cornish town has been recognised for its high rate of business growth on the Internet.

Google has given St Austell the "eTown" award after a nationwide search for the towns with the highest level of online entrepreneurial spirit.

The Cornish town achieved 8th place across the UK, achieving an increase of almost 27 per cent growth between 2010 and 2011.

Google assessed the online economic activity of towns across the nation to come up with its ranking list.

Councillor Sally Polmounter is pleased that the St Austell has achieved recognition for its investment in regeneration of the town..
