St Ives MP Andrew George is opposing the NHS Reform Bill which the coalition government will defend in the House of Lords today.
The changes will allow hospitals to gain around 49 per cent of their income from private patients. Liberal Democrat Mr Andrew George says that no health Bill would be better than a bad one.
Health Secretary Andrew Landsley tabled more than 100 amendments to the bill last Wednesday in an effort to push the reforms through the Lords.
A poll published today has shown that more than 90% of respondents in a British Medical Journal survey believe the Bill should be rejected.
This comes less than a week since the Royal College of GPs wrote to the Prime Minister David Cameron calling for it to be withdrawn.
Changes are already being made to make way for the proposed new system to start in 2013.
