Brazilian striker Robinho has been questioned over an alleged sexual assault in Leeds. The Manchester City star, 25, denies the allegations.

Robinho cost City a British record £32.5 million when he signed from Real Madrid this summer. Despite performing well on the pitch, scoring 12 goals, he has recently been embroiled in controversy.

This week the Brazilian International was fined after he left the club's training ground without permission. The striker said he had to attend to a family matter and said he believed he did have permission from the club.

This latest incident was alleged to have occurred at a nightclub in Leeds. Robinho was arrested on Tuesday over the incident that is said to have happened on January 14th.

Robinho's spokesman released a statement which said his client "strenuously denied any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality".

Manchester City are due to play Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday with Robinho likely to feature.
