Adam Carey has rocked Falmouth Town by quitting as manager after the club were kicked out of the Cornwall Senior Cup

This follows the club fielding an ineligible player in their 3-0 weekend victory over Saltash United. The Cornish FA have taken a hardline stance over the matter and decided to act.

It now means Saltash have made it into the semi-finals of the competition where they will play Liskeard Athletic, Bodmin Town or Portleven

Falmouth, 11 time winners of the cup, had brought on Jamie Mudge for the last 20 minutes of their quarter final against Saltash.

It was a game they were already winning 3-0 but the Cornish FA rules state that the player has to be a " registered and recognised player of the club".

Mudge was making his first appearance for the club so contravened the rules.

Adam Carey had been at the club for nearly four years and leaves them two points off the top of the South West Peninsula League table.
