Capello: Players should set example.

England manager Fabio Capello has blamed the amount of money footballers are paid for the recent scandals regarding players’ private lives.

“It is not only here. In Italy, in Germany, in Spain, in every country where football is so important it is the same problem," he said.

Capello admitted that fame and riches at such a young age can be difficult to deal with. He added that he hoped his players would make sacrifices for the good of their careers.

England are set to play a friendly against Egypt tonight. Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has been named as captain after John Terry was dropped as captain over allegations of an extramarital affair with team mate Wayne Bridge's partner.

Gerrard said: “Being England captain is always a big responsibility. I am delighted that I will be leading the boys out.”

'Dangerous'

Capello said he was delighted with the way his players have been playing since getting together on Monday.

Egypt, tonight's opponents, have won the African Cup of Nations three times. "I watched Egypt's games and it is a really, really good team. They are dangerous, they are really well organised on the pitch who know what to do in every moment,” Capello said.

There will be an estimated 75,000 England supporters for the match at Wembley Stadium.

Speaking about the game, Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan said: "[England is] a big country to put on our CVs, a big game in our history.”
