Redundant public telephone boxes in Cornwall are being used to encourage book exchanges among neighbours.
Village residents came up with the enterprising idea to save the familiar red boxes when they were no longer neeed to make calls.

Food-lovers in Falmouth are cooking up a storm on Pancake Day. Why? Because the event, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the last day before Lent when Christians traditionally give up eating rich food for as much as 40 days.
People eat pancakes because the ingredients - fat, butter and eggs - were not allowed during Lent. Shrove Tuesday is always 47 days before Easter Sunday.

Sheen: fired from hit show

Actor Charlie Sheen is planning to sue Warner Bros just a day after the studio terminated his contract, it has been reported.
Warner Bros fired the eccentric actor from the hit show Two and a Half Men following "careful consideration". The move is likely to cost Charlie Sheen tens of millions of dollars in earnings.
Mr Sheen's lawyer Marty Singer has told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor is planning to take legal action.

A million books by famous authors were handed out to celebrate World Book Night in the UK and Ireland.
From Falmouth to Fife, the books were given away in cafes, book shops and libraries in a bid to promote the joys of reading.

Most startling among the rediscovered collection by Daphne du Maurier is a risqué novel entitled 'The Doll'.

Hollywood star and sex symbol Jane Russell has died aged 89 at her home in California.
Her most memorable films include The Paleface (1948) with Bob Hope and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) with Maralyn Monroe.
She was a pin-up girl in the 1940s and 1950s and was discovered by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes who cast her in his 1943 Western The Outlaw.
In 1971 she featured in the Broadway musical Company.
The star married three times and adopted three children. She died of a of a respiratory illness.

A previously unknown Enid Blyton novel has been discovered in an archive of the late children's author.
The 180-page fantasy story about a magical caravan, Mr Tumpy’s Caravan, was in a collection of manuscripts auctioned last year by the family of Blyton’s eldest daughter.

A week-long run of the world-famous show Chess is on at the Hall for Cornwall.
Some of the best-known figures in the business wrote the
story of a love triangle between a woman and two chess masters. The lyrics were written by Sir Tim Rice and the music by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA.
This latest production features choreography by Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood. The cast come from a mix of hit West End shows.
The hit musical began its run in London's West End in 1986 before a revised version headed to Broadway in 1988.
