A week of events and celebrations is raising awareness of adoption and fostering rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The aim is to increase knowledge of the 2005 law which allows LGBT couples to adopt and foster children.

Although LGBT couples now have equal rights few are aware of their options, according to equal rights charity New Family Social.

The events are taking place all over the country as part of LGBT history month which is celebrating LGBT culture.

Euan Platt of LGBT Youth Scotland says the events should encourage more people to come forward.
